Flo Wilson

Creative Audio Production & Sound Engineering

Flo Wilson (they/she) is a composer, performer and artist from Aotearoa (NZ), based in Berlin (DE). Their practice spans choral-based experimental electronic performances, immersive spatial sound and video installations, composing for contemporary dance, and as a session songwriter/producer. A central theme in Flo's work is the singing voice and its relationship to space, with compositions often blurring the boundaries between organic and processed elements, weaving together intricate layers of sound to create lush sonic tapestries.

Flo's work has been presented internationally such as New Interfaces of Musical Expression (USA), Spatial Festival (Berlin), Taipei’s 王道銀行教育基金會 (TW), Australian Computer Music Conference (AUS) and has been acknowledged through grants, awards, and residencies such as the Toi Pōneke/NZSM Sonic Artist-In-Residence with Olivia Webb. Beyond their solo endeavours, Flo is an active cross-disciplinary collaborator, joining forces with visual artists, music technologists, dancers, and more to create multi-sensory experiences. In 2025, Flo premiered 'In The Stars', a multisensory work for six singers, six silos and six loudspeakers, which transformed the silos into 'a kind of giant hybrid organ' through their sonic activation; the piece was then nominated for the SOUNZ Contemporary Award, New Zealand's highest honour for contemporary composition. Flo teaches critical listening, composition and arrangement, and composition for media for the Creative Audio Production and Sound Engineering programme.
